Bruce Elam Elk 2011

Troy Elam (right) Elk 2011
A big congratulations goes out to Bruce and Troy Elam of Arizona for their recent archery elk hunt in their home state. This father and son were a couple of the lucky ones who drew elk tags out of one of the premium units in Northern Arizona. And as you can see from the pictures, they made the most of it!
With erratic weather and slow rut conditions, it took about a week for Bruce to arrow his bull. And Troy didn’t punch his tag until the last evening. Nevertheless, the both made the trip home with great bulls in the back of the pickup.
Bruce’s 6×6 green scored around 356″ and Troy’s heavy six-point had a rough score of 367″. That is a lot of antler for one trip and a great example of what Arizona has to offer!
Congratulations to both of you guys and if I happen to draw that tag next year, I could really use some guides!

Bill Latronica Elk 2011
Congratulations to Bill Latronica for once again filling his elk tag. The Latronicas (Connie and Bill) are frequent contributors to the website and serious hunters. It seems they never head home empty handed. And this fall is no different!
Thanks for the picture and good luck the rest of the fall.

Jim Walton Elk 2011
For those of you who know me, you know I come about my addiction to bowhunting honestly. I learned hunting and archery at a very early age from both of my parents. You also know that when fall rolls around, my parents travel all over the West in search of bowhunting adventures. And this year is no different.
I just got this picture and a brief update on my parents’ travels this September. Dad dogged this bull for nearly three days before he got an opportunity to make a shot. One arrow from 56 yards and Dad put his hands on the 342-inch 7×7. In all the years Dad has elk hunted, he has never killed a 7×7–until now. This is the second largest bull Dad has taken.
Mom and Dad are continuing across the West and are now in Montana chasing deer and antelope. Stay tuned for a more in-depth update on this bull and their hunt in the Big Sky state.

Jody Cyr Roosevelt 2011
Congratulations to Jody Cyr of Oregon on his recent archery elk success in his home state. Jody sneaked out into the woods with a hunting body last week and made a good shot on this bull. Jody spends a ton of time each year bowhunting and poses for more pictures sitting behind animals than anyone I know!
Thanks again for sending in your photos Jody and I can’t wait to see what else you drop this year.
If you would like to share pictures of your hunting success this fall, send them to zwalton5@hotmail.com.

Elam Trophy Room
This photo comes from Donna and Tom Elam in Arizona. As you can see, Tom has traveled all over North America and Africa to hunt big game. And where he goes, Donna is right there on a hunt of her own–scouring local markets and stores for the best shopping deals available.
A couple mounts not pictured are a 117″ Coues’ deer, a beautiful Kentucky whitetail and a monstrous free-ranging Bison from the Kaibab Plateau. And each year Tom adds to the collection.
I have known the Elams my entire life and you will never meet a nicer, more generous family. Thank you Donna for sending the photo. And good luck this hunting season Tom!
