Posted on: August 31st, 2009 Wish I Were Elk Hunting…

Just got a call from my dad today. He shot a nice 6-point this morning at 25 yards. And to top the hunt off, not 30 seconds after his bull crashed off with an arrow through the chest another 6-point–even bigger–walked out and paraded in front of my dad for more than a minute. What a morning in the elk woods!

It’s this time of year I’m really jealous of my dad. He worked his entire life. Paid his dues. And now, he is enjoying the life of a semi-retired elkaholic. Makes me wish I was right there with him.

Now, with an elk hanging, he gets to hunt deer. Poor guy. It’s tough being Dad!

Posted on: August 27th, 2009 Opening Day!

For years now, I have tried to quench my thirst for information on bowhunting and archery. Along the way, I’ve purchased countless books, scoured hundreds of websites and watched thousands of hours of hunting shows, all in pursuit of arming myself for hunting season.

Whenever possible I talk to archers of all ages and experience levels to gain new perspectives on a a wide range of topics. Each approach yields valuable insight. By learning about the experiences of others, I have been able to advance my bowhunting I.Q. exponentially.

It is with that I have taken two of my passions–bowhunting and writing–and have combined them to offer an informative and I hope interesting look into my perspectives, techniques and experiences in the world of archery.

My goal is to pass on my experiences to help you avoid some of the mistakes I’ve learned the hard way. In addition, I’ll share some tips that have helped me become more successful. And of course, I’ll share those success stories and lots of photos.

Thanks for stopping by. Please contact me with any comments, questions or concerns at zwalton5@hotmail.com. I hope you visit again soon.
